Intercountry Adoption News and Notices > Haiti: Resumption of Adoption Visa Processing
Effective February 25, 2019, Embassy Port-au-Prince will resume visa processing for adoption cases for prospective adoptive parents who are in Haiti. Due to the ordered departure of non-emergency Embassy personnel and ongoing civil unrest affecting Haitian government offices, prospective adoptive parents should expect occasional delays. Please review the February 14th Haiti Travel Advisory for additional information on current security concerns in Haiti. Prospective adoptive parents should not travel to Haiti for visa interviews or socialization visits until further notice.
Should adoption service providers or adoptive families have any questions or concerns, please email the Office of Children’s Issues at adoption@state.gov or U.S. Embassy Port-au-Prince at papadoptions@state.gov. We will circulate an updated notice once the authorized departure is lifted and Embassy Port-au-Prince resumes adoptions visa processing.
